Explore the local area

Ynys Clydach is situated on the northern edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park and the Fforest Fawr UNESCO Global Geopark.  Whilst remote the cottage is only 1 mile from the main A40 so has easy access to all the area has to offer:
  • Brecon Beacons National Park Visitors Centre – 6 miles
  • Pen y Fan – 8 miles
  • Brecon – 10 miles
  • Hay-on Wye – 30 minutes
There are so many places to visit but here are some of our favourites:

Good Day Out

Micro-adventures with animals and farm experience days engaging with animals, wildlife, conservation and rural skills. Based in the Brecon Beacons area, all our activities are small group and high interaction with knowledgeable friendly trainers who are passionate about what they do. All experiences also help good causes in some way, so you can do good while you have a good day out! With features like our Sheep Trekking on BBC Countryfile and ITV Coast & Country as well as articles on all our experiences in the press including the Times, Guardian, Telegraph, and the Daily Mail, we love showing you the beautiful area we live and work in and also love to engage you with your chosen day out.

The International Welsh Rarebit Centre

Trip Advisor review: 'This little gem of a place is little bit off the main touristy areas of the Beacons but certainly worth a visit. My reason for visiting was a photography exhibition in the upstairs gallery the celebration of Welsh culture and produce was a pleasant surprise. The food was very reasonably priced and I look forward to seeing how the place develops further.'

The Sky

Gliding
– for those who prefer to have their feet off the ground, the area is fantastic for Hang Gliding, Paragliding and flying Gliders (Sailplanes). One of UK’s most exciting gliding clubs is based in the heart of the Black Mountains at Talgarth. With soarable conditions on most days, the average flight times are amongst the longest in the UK. The club offers trial lessons along with temporary membership for experienced pilots.
